On the surface, the news looks good: December 2023 was 28.2% up on December 2019. But then there’s inflation to be accounted for. Do that, and we find absolutely no increase at all – foodservice inflation over the period matched, exactly, the apparent market growth.
There were clear winners over the Christmas period – and therefore, there must have been losers. And the figures are pointing to further losers in the months ahead with a foodservice sector that is running out of steam.
